Rock legend Dave Davis has a ‘strange’ request for Elon Musk, The Kinks’ Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Davis asked the Twitter chief to make changes to his tweets.
Dave Davis, the iconic lead guitarist of The Kinks, questioned Elon Musk on Wednesday over his tweet “warning”.
Davis – a founding member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group – asked the Twitter chief to stop his platform from adding “sensitive content” warnings under his posts, such as those about the 60th anniversary of The Kinks. Seen below is a tweet highlighting TikTok.
“Dear @elonmusk @Twitter please stop putting warnings on everything from ‘The Kinks’. We’re just trying to promote our Kinks music @TheKinks #thekinks60,” Davis pleaded.
Davis later said that the group’s name is a “brand name” and has not changed in six decades. A Kinks fan replied to Davis and pointed to an instance where his tweet about a version of The Kinks’ “(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman” received a warning from the social media platform.
The fan said the platform said it would remove the warning after an appeal. However, it continued to appear below the tweet. “It is impossible. The word robot should be banned. We have robots running our lives.
At least I’m a kink and not a fukin’ robot,” Davis replied, before retweeting a fan who cited the algorithm as the reason for the warning. Other Twitter users mocked the warnings, saying that The music of The Kinks does not deserve this disclaimer.
